This is to provide people over 55 years of age with a place to live quietly with people their own age and they are able to retain their independence.  A lot of seniors buying these types of properties are still quite active and/or working. Downsizing, or letting go of things you may or may not need, is not an easy task for most but is necessary when one moves from a large family home into a 2 bed condominium, for example.
